Tuberculosis has been a threat to human health since the dawn of time and continues to be to this day; So much so that ending TB by 2030 Is among the health targets of the United States sustainable development goals.

What is TB and what is its origin? Part 1 

Tuberculosis (TB) is a bacterial infection That usually affects the lung area and sometimes the organs near it (like the bones and the stomach). OKAY, WHAT? contagious disease, is caused by micro-bacterium tuberculosis and affects people with weakened immune systems at large which causes Pulmonary TB (a TB type that primarily affects the lungs). Tuberculosis historically known as "The White Death", "The consumption" or "droplet infection" is characterized by the growth of tubercles(nodules) otherwise known as Ghon focci on the lungs which causes cavities if untreated, damage to the lungs and strings along difficulty breathing.

·         It is the world's most infectious killer and one of the top 10 Causes of death worldwide

·         1.25 million people died from TB In 2023(Including 161,000 People with HIV)

·         TB has recorded more death cases than malaria and HIV

·         People from any age group can get TB
